Govanhill Community Development Trust (GCDT) was set up to support community development in Govanhill, which it does by seeking funding and income generation through it's commercial properties.

Employability Support
GCDT is working in partnership with a range of city-based organisations to provide support for local people to access jobs, training, work placements and volunteering. Through the Glasgow Ethnic Minority Support (GEMS) programme we have two support workers who support local ethnic minority residents to move closer to work. If you would like to access this support, please get in touch. Through the Glasgow Empowering Communities Cooperative (GECCO) programme we can support those with disabilities, from ethnic minority backgrounds, single parents and others who have experienced homelessness or the criminal justice system. If you would like to access this support, please get in touch.
As part of these programmes we run a job club and can support local people at our Support Centre. Our GEMS and GECCO work is supported with funding from Glasgow City Council.
Cost of Living Support
Our Cost of Living Workers can support local people to reduce household costs, increase household income and develop long-term budgeting and household management skills. Through this work we help people with applications to the Scottish Welfare Fund, support those with debt and connect you with support agencies who can provide assistance. This programme, delivered with funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, is coming to an end this Autumn but we can still support you if you get in touch.
Community Support Centre
Our Support Centre at 192 Allison Street has reopened to provide help and assistance on weekdays from 10-4. Please drop in to find out more about how local services can help you or receive support from different members of the team. The Centre reopened in August 2025 and we will be increasing opening hours to 5 days per week by Autumn, with other organisations coming to use the centre alongside GCDT staff.
Synthesia Multi-Lingual Video Project
This new project, funded by the Virgin Money Foundation, will use the latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to produce information videos presented by digital avatars. These will be used to support Govanhill residents to learn more about provision and their rights in relation to education, employment, health and housing. We will also be working with local people to develop their digital skills and learn AI skills to produce avatar videosstainable budgeting. She works closely with colleagues in Govanhill Housing Association to support tenants to sustain their tenancies and access support from local organisations where required.
